FOXNOV 5000mAh Portable Charger with 2.1A Output Review

The FOXNOV 5000mAh Portable Charger with 2.1A Output (5000mAh) arrived in a plain brown cardboard box with just the company name on it.

In the box was the charger, USB Mini charging cable and instructions. The charging cable is really short (maybe 2 inches) but works if you have this next to your device. Could be a little longer so you could use your device while it’s charging, but most people have their own cord they could use if needed. The cord is also a mini plug so if you have an Apple device, you will need to supply your own charging cable.

The charger is thin and fits in the palm of your hand. Very compact and portable. I wish this came with a carrying bag. I always have problems keeping the USB cable with the charger.

When I first pulled the charger out of the box, I was surprised at how light, thin and nicely built it felt. The outer casing is made with metal aluminum alloy and has a matte finish. Feels and looks very nice.

On one end is where the USB plug, mini plug, and power indicator are located. There is no on/off button or switch for this power bank. The 4 dot battery meter is in the middle of the mini plug and the USB plus and shows you the amount of charge is left in the battery. Will be a full 4 dots and not flashing when fully charged

The instructions are easy to read, complete. This doesn’t really need a lot of instructions as you plug the mini plug end into the charger and the USB end into a PC or outlet if you have an adapter and charge the charger until it’s fully charged. Took me a few hours the first time I charged it. You are better off plugging this into a wall charger to charge this as it seems faster. They hold so much juice and take forever to recharge.

Once charged, you plug the USB end into the battery pack and the mini plug end into your tablet, phone or whatever you need to charge. The charger will turn itself on and find the best charging speed for your device and charge it at that speed and amps. The charger will adjust its power based on what it is charging, so it won’t overcharge anything. It took my phone the first time I used this from 68% to 100% in just over 30 minutes. Not bad.

Once done and you unplug your device, the charger will turn itself off, which is nice and you can store it for next time.

Remember this is a 5000mAh charger and you normally get about 2 full charges out of it on most cell phones and even less for an iPad or other devices before it needs to be charged again. There are bigger ones out there but they cost a lot more as well, plus most of us only need a one time charge and can recharge this overnight before needing it again.

I would recommend this to family and friends for anyone looking for a really nice, easy to use, well-built, compact charger.
