I wasn’t sure about this drone to start with after reading the reviews, but they must have updated it since most of those. I love the design and the built-in prop guards. I normally don’t fly with them on, but these are in the design and you have no choice and they really do help in case of crashes.

The flight time on this is normal for this type of drone and with two batteries you can fly long enough each time or you can get more batteries if desired. Just let the motors cool a couple of minutes between each battery.

This is a little light for a drone and is easily moved by any wind or breeze and should only be flown on very low wind days. That being said, the altitude hold does work very well with no wind in play. The range on this is a little on the low side but still usable as this is a beginner drone and you don’t want to get too far away when using it to start with.

The 720p camera takes a decent video and pictures but is a little jumpy if the drone is getting tossed around with any wind. It is nice it comes with a card reader so you can transfer the videos and pictures to your PC and upload them to Facebook or YouTube if you wish to share them.
The headless mode, return to home and one button takeoff/land works as designed and I had no problem when I tested those. I think people get out of range and expect these to help and save them and it doesn’t work when the transmitter loses contact with the drone.

I did connect this to my VR headset and it does work and is very cool to fly a drone when you feel like you are inside the cockpit and seeing what the camera sees. This does fly just as well with the transmitter alone or using the app on your cell phone or tablet. I still prefer a transmitter and the two control sticks under my thumbs.

Overall, a decent drone that I think will work well for a beginner and still give enough challenge and fun for an experienced drone pilot.

Kolibri Hellfire Drone HD Wide-Angle Camera with FPV App Video Stream, with 15 Minutes Flight Time, Altitude Hold, Headless Mode, Auto Take-Off & Landing Quadcopter for Beginners Model: XK6600

I am impressed with the 15 minutes of flight time on this drone. That is about double most toy grade drones at this price range. I am also impressed with the design and durability of this drone. With the built-in prop guards, you can bump and run into things and not hurt them or the drone. Also helps when you crash as you are learning to fly and you will crash as most people do. Even experienced pilots crash at some point.

This drone comes with the same features that the other Kolibri drones come with except return to home. Not sure why that is missing but not a deal breaker. With one button takeoff/land, altitude hold, headless mode and a new feature called custom routes, this drone still has a lot of cool features for this price range.

It also comes with a very nice 720p camera with 20fps and a wide angle lens so you can capture more area as you fly around. The video and pictures get recorded on an SD card that you will have to purchases as well. So get an SD card that is between 2GB - 32GB with at least a class 4 rating when you purchase this drone unless you already have one. I always use a class 10 SD card so it’s fast enough to keep up with recording any video you want to take any place you need to use this SD card in the future.

I really like this drone and how it flies. I think it is easy enough for a beginner to learn to fly for the first time but fun enough for a seasoned pilot to fly as well.

Kolibri Torpedo Mini Drone for kids Micro Camera with FPV App Video Stream, Altitude Hold, Headless Mode, One-Button Auto Take-Off & Landing, Nano Quadcopter for Beginners Model: XK2380

I wasn’t sure about this drone to start with the inverted props on this, but it does work and flies pretty well. This is a little drone at 2.6 x 2.6 x 1.4 inches and only weighs half a pound and should only be flown in little to no wind.

For the price and size of this, this does come with a lot of features and can be flown either with just the controller or using your phone or tablet. With the one-touch takeoff, the drone will hover a few feet off the ground until you take control of it and you can push the same button to auto land it. Works pretty well. This has altitude hold and this means it will stay close to where you leave the height using the left stick as it uses a barometer to hold it at that height until you move it.

Headless mode works (doesn’t matter which way the drone is facing, it will fly the way you push the stick) and I think is recommended on this drone until you get good at flying it as it is easy to get the drone turned around and not know which way it is facing from a distance since it is so small. This is only good for about 150 feet in unobstructed view before you lose contact and control of this drone from the transmitter or app but does get hard to see much further than this anyway. It does have an audible alarm that will sound when you are getting close to out of range. So when you hear that, bring it back to you, kill the motors and drop the drone or hit the return to home which may not work if you get too far away.

The camera on this is a little on the low end at 420p at 15 fps but still allows for ok video and pictures or for viewing on your cell phone, tablet or VR goggles as you fly this (way better than I thought it would be). The video and pictures are stored on your device and will not work when flying with the transmitter only without the app running.

A new feature I haven’t seen on any drone at this price range is the custom route feature. Use your finger to create a route on the screen of your device and the drone will follow that route and fly the route without any interaction from you. Very cool and works very well.

Overall, a nice compact highly featured drone that works pretty well at this price range. The only downside I see on this drone is the battery is internal and cannot be replaced, so you can’t buy extra batteries and get more flight time.
