The Maylit(TM) USB TV Light Strip under Cabinet Mood Backlighting is a wonderful addition to my TV. I couldn’t believe the difference on what having a backlight means. I guess if you never had one, you wouldn’t know. Seeing it on TV or a web page isn’t the same either. Yea it looks cool but you don’t understand how it changes the view when you have one and it’s actually on.
This couldn’t be any easier to install. Took less than five minutes if you can get access to your TV pretty easily. These strips of LED lights are pretty small and short (18 inches each) when separated and you do need to think about where you need to install them to get the best coverage and still be able to plug the USB plug into the USB port on your TV for power. I have a seven port USB hub plugged into my TV USB port for easy access that has a five-foot cord to it, so I used the hub for mine.
Please make sure to clean the surface of your TV before installing this. The tape needs a pretty clean surface to stick to or it will just fall off. It also doesn’t’ work very well if you pull it off and put it back on either. So get it right the first time. So to start with, you pull the backing off the 3M tape on the back of the strip (make sure you get it all off, some of mine broke off and didn’t come off at first), stick these to the back of your TV with all the arrows on the strips facing the same direction (flow of the lights) and connect each strip with the included wire connectors and plug it into the USB port on your TV and you are done. Hit the power button on the remote and sit back and enjoy your new lights.
The remote does have a multitude of different features and colors you can use if you desire. I prefer to just leave it on one color that I think is the best for my viewing most of the time but play with it when friends and family come over.
Overall, this is a very nice backlight and works very well for this application. Worth the time, effort and money to have this.
