Color: Wireless Router
The Ameky 300Mbps Wireless Router Long Range Extender is very impressive. It’s a very small portable router you could take any place you may need a router. It also works as a WiFi Extender (repeater) or as an access point.
The instructions are in broken English and written by someone with English as their second language. They are a sometimes a little confusing, but readable and you can get thru it. There are instructions for each way you can set this up and use it, so they cover all aspects of the use of this device.
They also provide a short Ethernet cable to connect to your laptop or computer to allow you to setup the device. It’s not real long and would work better with a laptop then a desktop but it works if needed.
Once plugged in and connected to your computer, the setup is done and configured thru a webpage interface. So open your web browser and type in ‘192.168.10.253’ and hit enter to open the interface. Once opened use ‘admin’ (all lower case) as the username and password to get into the app. Once in, you can set this up as a router, access point or as a repeater.
Setting this up as a repeater (most people will use this option) couldn’t be much easier. Select the repeater option, select your WiFi from the list, put the name you want to call the new SSID if you wish. Enter the password for your WiFi and save it. After that, you can unplug this and plug it in anywhere you want. Normally about half way between your normal router and the dead spot you are trying to get a signal too.
Overall, for less than $23 for this at the time of this review, you can’t go wrong with this. If you just need a repeater or extender, then pick the other one they have for under $20, but for $3 more, if you want a cheap router that works just as good as one four times as much and does the repeating as well, this is it.
