The Raking outdoor camping lamp looks like a regular light bulb but it isn’t. It’s more like a battery operated flashlight in the shape of a light bulb. There is a switch on the side to turn it on and off and to switch between the light modes you have. Push it once for full brightness, twice for half brightness and a third time for it to flash an SOS signal.
This light is made from all plastic and works well both inside and out but don’t submerge it in liquids, it’s not waterproof. With the all plastic design, it is safe for adults and children and doesn’t get hot due to using the three LED lights that it uses. These also draw a lot less power than normal lights and should make the batteries last longer.
I still would recommend using rechargeable batteries if you plan on using these lights a lot. I do wish the design was a little different and I could use one 18650 rechargeable battery like a lot of the newer torch flashlights use nowadays instead of just the three AAA batteries this takes. Most nowadays allow you to swap and use either one. So if the rechargeable battery died, I could throw in the normal three AAA batteries and keep on going.
This light is bright and the LED lights should last for 100k hours as long as the outer casing will last and not break. The little hook on the end is nice and makes it easy to hang this places to be used. Just be careful with the hook and don’t snap it off or this becomes a table light.
I bought these more for working on my car or having in the truck in case I need a light. It’s great that this is a two pack, so I have one for my car and another for the wives.
