Semlos SATA to USB 3.0 Hard Drive Docking Station is something I have been needing for months since my two drive docking station died. I really wanted something like that again, but just can’t afford those and ended up getting this instead.
I had two backup drives that I used to backup both my computer and my wife’s and also used these as a network shared drives so we had access to all the data from either computer. It was a hard blow when my external docking station stopped working.
This is an open plastic docking station that acts like any other external hard drive and requires no software or installation to make work. Plug the power cord into this and the wall, plug this into your USB 3 port on your computer (or USB 2 if needed), insert your SATA hard drive into it and turn it on. Your computer will recognize it and assign it a drive letter and then you can use this just like any other drive.
I am back in the game and backing up my wife’s computer again and am so happy with this thing. It just works. I keep it turned off when not in use so no virus or ransomware can get to it during normal operations of her computer. You just never know what will happen these days and I will have a backup now in case it does.
The USB 3.0 is so much nicer and faster than the older 2.0, so if you have one on your computer, use it. The transfer speeds are so much faster and things just take less time to work now.
I also like the three different ways this can be used and set up. You can use it vertically with the tray, vertical without the tray and horizontal with the tray. One of these ways should work for everyone and any situation.
If I had any complaint, it would be the USB cable and power cord could be longer so I could plug this into my router and have it sit on top of my computer center next to my router.
