The iPstyle IR Motion Sensor Greeting Wireless Doorbell is a nice piece of equipment to have to welcome your guests or to make you aware that someone or something is approaching or entering the area.
The unit itself is made from all plastic and is, on the whole, a thin white plastic that could break if you were to drop it or was hit. This is not water, dirt or dust proof. This is made to be installed up and out of the way and should only be used indoors in a clean and dry environment.
The operation of this is pretty self-explanatory and it’s a good thing because the little bit of directions on the back of the card this comes in really only tells you how to install the batteries.
There is a DC plug on this if you have a DC plug that will fit this as it doesn’t come with one and normally runs off 3 AAA batteries that you must supply as well. They state these should last for two months before needed replacing.
On the end of this, there is an on/off switch, a switch to choose between music, alarm or voice, a button to choose between the 32 songs it has and a volume button. Pretty easy to operate and use.
The mounting screws for this are included and can be found in the battery compartment when you first get this. There is also a piece of the adhesive strip if you decide to just stick this on to something in order to mount it.
The unit itself can be mounted and rotated to about any angle you need to make it point to the entrance or area you are choosing to cover. This will recognize people walking by from 3 to 30 feet and should be taken into consideration when placing this so you don’t get a lot of false alarms and unnecessary alerts.
This does get pretty loud (75-95 decibels) and can get a little annoying when it is going off all the time.
I tested this the day I received this as we had guests coming over for the holidays, so I set this up by the front door to one, play a seasonal song when they arrived and two, to make us aware that we had a guest that had arrived. This worked like a charm and was a big hit with the guests, but did overtime get on our nerves enough that I placed it outside the door where it wasn’t too loud but load enough I could still hear it when someone else showed up.
Overall, this is a great little welcoming doorbell that works as described and fulfills the purpose it was made for. At 3.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 inches, this works very well and is loud enough to be heard but small enough to be out of the way and hidden when needed.
