Makerfire RTF Micro FPV Lite Quad Tiny Whoop Based on Eachine E010 Review

The Makefire Micro Quad is totally different than any other quad I have seen so far, with the camera on top instead of the bottom. The camera tilts 10 degrees but is that enough to be able to capture images and video while flying above something or someone? You also need the goggles or FPV screen in order to use this camera. Without one of those, the camera is useless.

This little quad looks awesome right out of the box with its bright fire engine red paint job. This is stated to be an RTF quad (Ready to Fly) and it is. I got a few minutes of flight time out of it before the battery died, but most of that was trying to get it trimmed and flying straight. Just remember, without charging the batteries, the first flight is normally half as long as a fully charged flight would be. Also remember to place this on a flat surface and calibrate it before trying to fly it and trim it each time you fly it.

This thing comes with upgraded everything. From upgraded motors, upgraded camera, upgraded battery and even upgraded to no soldering is used to connect the motors, so everything is plug and play if you need to replace or change anything down the road. That is the plus side.

The downside with all these upgrades is the flight time. Even with a bigger battery at 200mAh, you only get two-thirds the flight time as the drone this is based on. But this is already assembled for you and for the price is a really good deal compared to buying the Eachine E010 and upgrading all the parts yourself. They rate this at 3 minutes and 40 seconds of flight time and they are really on the low end as I got a lot more time than that, but maybe close on this time depending on if you use the camera and how hard and fast you fly this quad.

For such a little quad, you really do have a pretty good control over this compared to other small quads I have flown. With one key return and headless mode (a must have for beginners) you can’t beat what this comes with out of the box. The responsiveness and pitch and yaw on this are great and pretty responsive.

This does come with the quad, transmitter, charging cable and a manual. The manual is in English, easy to read and follow and covers all the buttons and controls of flying and using this quad and all its options. I assume there are no extra propellers because they are totally surrounded by guards and would be really hard to break, so you shouldn’t need any?

The camera on this thing is pretty amazing. The quality of the video is awesome as well as the range that this camera signal can reach for such a small drone and camera. I had this out for over 200 feet and it still works great. You do need to take care of the camera since it sits on top of this drone and is exposed to all the elements and could be damaged quite easily if crashed and landed on. With the camera antenna being a bigger hard style antenna that sticks straight up, this could get damaged really easy if you flip this or land on anything. You must also be very aware of any liquid coming into contact with the open board on this as that could cause problems. This camera also just sits on the top of this and does come dislodges pretty easily if you crash into something.

This is a tiny whoop quadcopter (tiny whoop = blade indicatrix + FPV gear). It’s a modified quad that is upgraded and made for speed and to be flown more indoors when you can’t fly outdoors. Just looking at the prop guards that completely encircle the props is a good guess as these will stop the propellers from hitting just about anything you may run into indoors.

This comes with the mini transmitter that works as is, but looks and feels like a little toy transmitter and could be swapped out with a Spektrum transmitter if you have one already. One nice thing about drones, they fly using certain transmitter protocols and if you have a transmitter with the same type, it should work on all the drones that have that same type.

Great overall whoop quadcopter that the price fits and works and flies very well.
