Bought this for
my last door on my house doesn’t have a smart lock on it and this one was
for sure the easiest one to install and set up. You should use the template and
mark the spot it will go on the inside of the door and test that location
before actually applying the lock to the door. That 3M tape is almost
impossible to get off once you stick it on.
It will also
help you decide the correct piece that goes on your current door lock knob to
turn it open/closed as they do give you three different pieces to use for
different door lock knobs. You need the best set for the lock to work the best.
You also need to make sure your lock opens/closes easily as well as if it binds
or is hard to turn, the lock may fail or drain the batteries faster than
normal.
You do need 4
AA batteries to operate this and they are not included. I use rechargeable
batteries for things like this that will need to be replaced more often.
You don’t
really need the outside keypad installed if you don’t want to use it if you
just want to use the app (take your keys just in case) or you can place it
about anywhere as long as it can reach and connect to the inside lock in order
to open or close it. It does not have to be just on the other side of the door
where the lock is to work. The keypad isn’t a flat black and holds oil from
your fingers, so your fingerprints do show, so you do need to be careful with
that.
The app isn’t
that hard to set up, get working, and works great, since most of these locks
use similar options, set up, and I have been thru it a few times before in
other apps.
Overall, it is
a nice smart lock that works and is easy to install.
