The design on the
inside and outside looks wonderful. I bought this because I love the sound they
make. The same reason I bought the kalimba. This looks great sitting there on
the silk cushion that comes with it and it makes it look even more authentic
and cool. The wooden mallet looks nice and has a harder side and a softer side that
you hold on to.
To create sound with this bowl, firmly press the mallet in a circular motion against the bowl’s outside top rim. When the sound or tone starts to get clear and more distinct, you can slow your motion down a little to get a constant and clear sound. Use your whole arm to make the motion and not just your wrist. You can also make the same circular motion against the outside belly of the bowl. Additionally, you can gently stroke the bowl before beginning the circular motion. This is the part where people say the sound doesn’t last long enough, don’t do. You can get a different pitch sound if you add a liquid (like water) and fill the bowl at different levels.
Overall, a very nice singing bowl that looks and sounds great.
